LNDN DRGS Burnout 4 album songs list:

«Rokk Dreams (Intro)» feat. Smoke DZA and Wacko
«Always» feat. Larry June
«Gangsta Party» feat. Serv-On
«Frank White»
«Mic Rap (Interlude)»
«Drills» feat. Elcamino
«Starstrukk» feat. Michael Christmas and Chuck Inglish
«Let Me Know» feat. Stalley
«Legend of Zelda (Outro)» feat. Boldy James
Entitled Burnout 4, the new project features appearances from Michael Christmas, Smoke DZA, Chuck Inglish, Stalley, Boldy James, ElCamino, Serv-On, Wacko, and Larry June.

West coasters Jay Worthy and Sean House — together known as LNDN DRGS — have been doing their part to keep the G-Funk movement alive since their self-titled EP back in 2015. This Friday (December 11), they’ll continue that with their new project Burnout 4, which will see nine cuts and additional assists from Smoke DZA, Larry June, Chuck Inglish, Stalley, Boldy James, and more. Before that arrives, fans get to see a self-titled visual containing parts of what is presumed to be two different tracks from the forthcoming drop.

Directed by Danny Trin, the clip shows Jay Worthy mobbing heavy in New York, repping his gang and even running into Jim Jones while delivering his street subject matter:

Burnout 4 will follow last year’s Affiliated, which saw 14 cuts and a wealth of features from TF, IAMSU!, G Perico, Conway The Machine, Problem, Casey Veggies, Meyhem Lauren, Krayzie Bone, and more.

In addition to his reunion with Sean House, this year also saw Jay Worthy bless his fanbase with the well-received projects Two4one, Eat When You’re Hungry Sleep When You’re Tired, and Till The Morning, the last two of which were produced exclusively by Harry Fraud and Shlohmo, respectively.

We weren’t expecting this project until LNDN DRGS shared a single off of it, but we’re glad its here. The duo of Jay Worthy and Sean House have connected for the fourth installment of their Burnout series and the features are stacked. Smoke DZA, Boldy James, Larry June, Chuck Inglish and more make up the 9-track opus, which has ride out music for the weekend.

LNDN DRGS is the Cali rap you need RIGHT NOW. The slowed samples and house party vibes of Bompton rapper Jay Worthy and Vancouver producer Sean House might conjure G-Funk classics of old, but this ain’t a DeLorean on Daytons. Mentored by the late A$AP Yams, LNDN DRGS have pulled from generations of game to make modern day slaps all their own.

After burning down the stage at Fool’s Gold DAY OFF LA (leaving a trail of curl activator in their wake), LNDN DRGS and FG combined forces for the free album Aktive, featuring some of the funnest, filthiest West Coast jams we’ve heard in our lives (and cover art by OG Doggystyle illustrator Joe Cool).

Kid Cudi — Lord I Know

If you’re of a certain age, the first Man on the Moon, from 2009, probably meant something to you. Maybe you took your first bong rip while Kid Cudi chanted «I got 99 problems and they all bitches.» Or maybe you sent your middle school crush a link to «Cudi Zone,» and they responded with, «Your taste in music is sick!» Or maybe you gloomily stared out of your bedroom window and repeatedly played «Day ’N’ Nite» hoping one day you could move out and go post up on a Soho street corner in a Bape hoodie. Cudi’s music was there for a lot of transformative experiences. And even though he has hardly released any memorable solo music in a decade, he’s still seen through nostalgia-tinted glasses with hopes that one day he’ll change lives again.

On the album, the old crew is back—Dot Da Genius, Mike Dean, Plain Pat, Emile Haynie, and even Evan Mast of Ratatat—and some new faces have been added into the fold: Most specifically Take a Daytrip, the beat-making duo who show up when the major Atlanta-based producers are too busy. To make the album seem more important, it’s split into four acts and attempts to follow a loose concept about trying to defeat his demons and find peace. Part of what made Cudi’s music appealing in the first place was that he was an everyman. His stories about how struggles with depression and loneliness affected his relationships were detailed enough to be personal but also vague enough to be easily applied to anyone’s life. That’s not the reality anymore, and Cudi doesn’t appear to realize it.

When he’s not trying to be relatable, Cudi excels. «Girl is tellin’ me she don’t know what she want/Lotta demons creepin’ up, they’re livin’ underneath,» he raps with malaise on the album’s best song, «Tequila Shots,» rattling off a snippet from his life instead of attempting to capture the zeitgeist. Over this familiar-sounding Dot Da Genius and Daytrip beat, his tone catches the perfect balance, too, not too humdrum or overly excited, which is usually the case for him.

The worst thing that has happened to Cudi, musically speaking, is the time he’s spent hanging around Travis Scott. On «Damaged,» the hollow arena-ready production, one-note croons, shrieking ad-libs, and an underwhelming drop check off all the boxes of a record generic enough to fit on Jackboys. The same could be said for «Show Out»; Pop Smoke’s verse sounds as if it was never meant to be used, the drill-influenced beat is like when fast fashion steals runway designs, and Cudi’s spirituality is shallow. Cudi seems to think he’s making records the crowd at Rolling Loud will eventually moshpit to, but it’s probably more likely to end up at dinner parties hosted by Virgil Abloh.

But even when Cudi pauses the rage, Man on the Moon III is no better. If it wasn’t real, «She Knows This» would be known as a lazy parody of a Cudi song: It starts off with a Michael Cera sample from Scott Pilgrim and ends with Cudi using vocal manipulation techniques that should have been retired after the My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy sessions. The second half of the album hits all of Cudi’s clichés: «The Void» has the lifeless hums; «Lovin’ Me» has the empty-hearted collab with an indie darling, this time it’s Phoebe Bridgers; «Elsie’s Baby Boy» has the half-assed singing on a miserable-sounding guitar sample that has plagued almost every Cudi record after Man on the Moon II.

And though it’s admirable to hear Cudi open up about his struggles with mental health and addiction, it doesn’t automatically make the music worthwhile. Cudi croons, «Say, ‘I’m waitin’ to die,’ I cry/Many nights I spent gettin’ fucked up, livin’ a lie,» on «Mr. Solo Dolo III,» a sequel to the Man on the Moon standout, but his flat vocals and plodding production just make it underwhelming. If anything, «Mr. Solo Dolo III» is only memorable because of its title, which like too much of Man on the Moon III is coasting on a legacy built a lifetime ago.

«Tequila Shots,» produced by Dot Da Genius and Take a Daytrip, sounds like a surge of cosmic energy. The tempo is fast, the drums are intense, and the song doesn’t relent. Cudi’s lyrical approach is aligned with the first two Man on the Moon albums, with rhymes about «demons creepin’» and «serenity,» but «Tequila Shots» refuses to be anything besides a banger. It’s a move the Cudi of yore would’ve rebuffed.

«I feel like he evolved. He wouldn’t have rapped on beats like that maybe six years ago, like 100 percent,» Dot Da Genius, Man on the Moon III’s executive producer, says over a Zoom call. Dot Da Genius provided Cudi with his first hit, 2007’s «Day ’n’ Nite,» and has been one of his most consistent collaborators and friends since the beginning of his career. «He opened up during this whole time period and just kept an open mind, and he killed it. I think he gave a stellar performance on all the records.»

The MOTM 3 creators divided the album into four acts: Return 2 Madness, The Rager, The Menace, Heart of Rose Gold and Powers. The first half features high-intensity beats for Cudi to rap over, while the latter half is more melodic and attuned to the first two albums.

«I think what’s different is on previous Man on the Moons, you would’ve got hit with a more introspective vibe earlier on in the album and then this album, like I said, Cudi wanted to come out swinging,» Dot says. «So for like the first six, seven tracks, right up until ‘Show Out,’ it’s mainly all energy.»

In retrospect, it’s hard not to see the Man on the Moon series as a creative prison. Those first to albums codified the Kid Cudi sound—downtempo, haunting ballads and emotional screeds about addiction, death, and depression—for himself and a generation. But as the myth of Cudi rose, so too did his knack for rapping. The heavenly hums and melodies stayed, but the bars were taken out back and given a couple of symbolic rounds to the head. Once you make an album that an entire age group elevates to mythical status, how do you escape from those confines? The answer for Man on the Moon III: The Chosen was to unify Cudi’s divergent skills and refine it for a new era.

Cudi’s resurgence as a rapper is partially due to the update of Man on the Moon’s sound. David Biral and Denzel Baptiste, the duo behind Take a Daytrip, were in high school when the first Cudi records were released. Over the next decade, their irreverent melodies and chest-rattling drums defined viral hits like 2017’s «Mo Bamba» and 2019’s «Panini.» When Biral and Baptiste first began working with Cudi, he asked them to brainstorm what his own version of «Mo Bamba» might sound like. Instead of the wild orchestral flourishes or the ornate compositions of the first two Man on the Moon projects, the Take a Daytrip and Dot Da Genius beats that anchor the project have a straightforward brilliance. While the melodies still have celestial flashes that harken back to Cudi’s obsession with space, the drums are heavy and intense.

«Our first moments of hearing the Cudi hum, hearing him think of the words, and then actually sing,» Biral says. «The Cudi rap flow is just, he has his own world when it comes to the way that he raps. And I think just for us working with a legend at the level as Cudi for when we were experiencing some of these moments for the first time was just like, ‘Oh my God.’»

Across Man on the Moon III, Cudi and Co. make incremental tweaks to the Cleveland rapper’s more rigid formula and give it a sense of propulsion. His spiritual successors—Travis Scott, Juice WRLD, Lil Uzi Vert—spent a decade shaving down the baroque bombast of those early G.O.O.D. Music releases into something simpler and more indebted to the immediacy of Atlanta’s trap music. On songs like «Another Day» and «She Knows This,» Cudi layers his verses with ad-libs, and his vocals sound more distorted and robotic than ever.

Cudi reunites with his key production team for much of the album: Dot Da Genius, Take A Day Trip, Plain Pat, Emile Hayne and the incomparable Mike Dean, the latter known largely for being Kanye West’s music director. The fabulous five’s fluorescent soundscapes, airy dimensions and emotive medleys couldn’t be more Cudi if they tried. Other producers who lend their services include E*vax (Evan Mast of Brooklyn electronic duo Ratatat) and WondaGurl, while Cudi even manages to pull Finneas away from work on the burgeoning uber-producer’s sister Billie Eilish’s new album for the dreamy love ballad ‘Sept. 16’.

The album’s crown jewel lays at the feet of ‘Mr. Solo Dolo III’. A continuation of previous instalments (parts one and two appeared respectively on 2009’s ‘MOTM: The End Of Day’ and 2013’s ‘Indicud’), the track sees Cudi delve into the darkness once again, swimming through waves of adversity, manoeuvring through mental health obstacles. His isolated state leaves you breathless. But the mettlesome drum kicks and courageous keys instil hope, keeping the sense of progression alive, even when he proclaims: «I don’t need nobody.»

The year of Boldy James is wrapping up with Real Bad Boldy, the Detroit rapper’s fourth full-length of 2020. The Price Of Tea In China, Manger On McNichols, and The Versace Tape, two of which made it onto our 50 Best Albums Of 2020 list, were all collaborations with a single producer. Real Bad Boldy is a team-up with Real Bad Man, the clothing designers who also make beats, and it also features appearances from Stove God Cooks, Meyhem Lauren, Eto.

After prepping fans with singles «Thousand Pills» and «Little Vicious,» Boldy James and producer Real Bad Man officially unleash their Real Bad Boldy project. The new body of work is equipped with 10 tracks and includes features with Stove God Cooks, Meyhem Lauren and Eto.
The new project comes at a time in Boldy’s life where he’s well-seasoned with real life experiences to speak about. «With Real Bad Boldy, I’m talking about my life before music; before I caught this second wave that I got right now. Things that I am into, this art of hustling» Boldy said about the project in a statement. «I didn’t really make it in this industry as a youngin,’ I made it once I got a little older and I feel I am in my prime now.»

Boldy James has released Real Bad Boldy, a joint project with Los Angeles creative collective Real Bad Man.
The ten-track project features appearances from Meyhem Lauren, Eto, Mooch and Rigz. James also previously previewed the collection with the song «Thousand Pills,» featuring Stove God Cooks.
«With Real Bad Boldy, I’m talking about my life before music; before I caught this second wave that I got right now,» James told Complex. «Things that I am into, this art of hustling.»

The Lowdown: In 2020, Detroit rapper Boldy James has been as prolific as the Bad Boy Pistons were in the late ’80s. Like the Pistons, he has two championship rings. Unlike the Pistons, he isn’t getting swept off the floor anytime soon. In February, he dropped The Price of Tea in China with legendary boom bap producer The Alchemist to critical acclaim. It’s simultaneously a workmanlike record and one that showcases how cold Boldy’s flow is. On that record, Boldy’s in control like a substitute teacher who is more stern than the actual teacher. Every time he raps, it’s like turning a page in his book. The Price of Tea… sounded like it came from the Detroit underworld, the type of streets that CNN refuses to show you. Detroit, a once innovative industrial city, has been ravaged by the evils of capitalism, creating cataclysmic levels of pain and tribalism. Detroit vs. Everybody isn’t just a corny slogan: It is rooted in fact. You can see it with the local sports teams; you can see it in the city’s hip-hop scene, which is aggressive, loud, and has lines that make you do a double take; and you can definitely see it in Boldy’s raps: cold and precise.
In July, Boldy dropped Manger on McNichols, arguably the best of his albums thus far. Where Price of Tea… is classic- and clean-cut-sounding, McNichols has a rough edge to it. It’s barking in your ear as if every song has static interfering with the broadcast. Boldy gets even more personal than he did on Price of Tea…, too. «Mommy Dearest» is one of the best songs of the year, with Boldy painfully recollecting a complicated relationship with his mom that led him to be on the block and dedicate his life to the Pyrex glass. In August, he dropped The Versace Tape on the equally prolific Griselda label. It’s a step down from his previous two releases primarily due to Jay Versace’s inconsistent production. It works sometimes but too often feels like an impression of other great producers. Boldy is back, though, with Real Bad Boldy, a collab with producer Real Bad Man. Stove God Cooks and Mayhem Lauren assist with some solid guest features, but Boldy sets the pace with his trademark casual cadence.

We have a mutual hatred for two things:

Christmas. And our exes.

So what happens when we end up celebrating Christmas and having to face our exes? We make a deal. We fake a relationship to make everyone else jealous. That fake relationship leads to a ‘friends with benefits’ kind of agreement.

He’s a rock star.
I’m a backup singer.

We’ve both dealt with this before.

This should be simple. But it’s not.

Forget Christmas. Forget our exes.
Remember the time spent in bed… and the way he looks at me after…

Ah, shoot. I broke the cardinal rule of getting mixed up with a rock star. Which is this: Do NOT fall for a rock star. Ever. No matter what. Ever.

A GLOBAL SUPERSTAR

In the summer of 1980, ten years after the break-up of the Beatles, John Lennon signed with a new label, ready to record new music for the first time in years. Everyone was awestruck when Lennon dashed off ‘(Just Like) Starting Over’. Lennon was back in peak form, with his best songwriting since ‘Imagine’.

A DANGEROUSLY OBSESSED FAN

In the years after Lennon left the Beatles, becoming a solo artist and making a life with Yoko Ono in New York City, Mark David Chapman had become fixated on murdering his former hero. He was convinced that Lennon had squandered his talent and betrayed his fans. In December 1980, Chapman boarded a flight from Hawaii to New York with a handgun stowed in his luggage. He was never going home again.

A MURDER THAT STUNNED THE WORLD

Enriched by exclusive interviews with Lennon’s friends and associates, including Paul McCartney, The Last Days of John Lennon is a true-crime drama about two men who changed history. One whose indelible songs enliven our world to this day, and the other who ended the music with five pulls of a trigger.

JAMES PATTERSON is one of the best-known and biggest-selling writers of all time. His books have sold in excess of 385 million copies worldwide. He is the author of some of the most popular series of the past two decades — the Alex Cross, Women’s Murder Club, Detective Michael Bennett and Private novels — and he has written many other number one bestsellers including romance novels and stand-alone thrillers.

James is passionate about encouraging children to read. Inspired by his own son who was a reluctant reader, he also writes a range of books for young readers including the Middle School, Dog Diaries, Treasure Hunters and Max Einstein series. James has donated millions in grants to independent bookshops and has been the most borrowed author in UK libraries for the past thirteen years in a row. He lives in Florida with his family.

What separation can do can be gleaned from the excerpt from the most famous band in rock history. When Paul McCartney officially bid farewell to the Beatles on April 10, 1970, four fates took four different courses. display George Harrison got along quite well with the end: the «quiet Beatle» had already settled in his Hare Krishna cosmos between playing sitar and Maharishi meditation. He produced a few hits, invented the modern benefit concert in 1971 with his New York Concert for Bangladesh, and financed the film «The Life of Brian» for his Monty Python buddies. Ringo Starr made nice songs and inconsequential films, became addicted to alcohol in the casinos of Monte Carlo, got the hang of it and is now the purified, likeable old star. Paul McCartney comforted himself in Scottish solitude with family and sheep breeding, but his creativity suffered despite the rural idyll with Linda under the guerrilla war with John Lennon. DISPLAY Real heroes tackle where they are needed Markus volunteered to test returnees on vacation And the? Lennon continued to act as a world peace activist, sounding «Give Peace a Chance» and placards «War is Over» everywhere. In his songs he saw himself as a musical advocate for oppressed workers («Working Class Hero») and women («Woman is the Nigger of the World»). That his poor man’s poetry didn’t really suit him, the multimillionaire, that he got involved with controversial figures like AJ Weberman from the «Rock Liberation Front» and militant IRA representatives, that most of the love and peace actions They were mainly used for concept art marketing for the newly wedded Yoko — at first it didn’t matter.

Many blamed Yoko Ono in particular for destroying the Beatles. Accusations that were equally justified and yet exaggerated: According to many, a woman, especially an Asian, had no place in the men’s bastion recording studio, not even in the revolutionary sixties. Yoko Ono was annoying there with her permanent presence, McCartney was also annoying with boss doors and perfectionism, Lennon with indolence («You can’t make music at ten in the morning»), Harrison and Starr dropped out in between. The Beatles just didn’t want to have to be the Beatles anymore. They were tired of composing, producing, filmmaking, world tours, press conferences and continuous interviews, screaming hordes of fans and a fishbowl life, grueling arguments about management, title rights and finances. But without the brilliant symbiosis with his alter ego McCartney, John only stumbled through the following decade that would end so tragically for him. The end of 2020 will mark two years for Lennon fans: he would have celebrated his 80th birthday on October 9 — if he hadn’t been murdered 40 years ago in New York.

The deranged Mark David Chapman fired five bullets at him shortly before 11 p.m. on December 8, 1980, and four hit him in the back. A police car took Lennon to nearby Roosevelt Hospital, and his death was determined at 11:07 p.m. Chapman had met him at the portal of the posh Dakota apartment building that afternoon and asked for an autograph. A snapshot of the two at that moment became an icon. Actually, as he later stated, he wanted to kill him there. But he changed his mind and waited well into the night in front of the building on the corner of 72nd Street and Central Park West. A TV interview sentence announced in 1966 had become Lennon’s undoing: his «We are now more popular than Jesus» caused angry Christians in the USA to burn Beatles records. Mark Chapman, 25, an outsider and Beatles admirer, had also found refuge for his psychoses in strict Christianity and now resented that sentence for his idol. Self-discovery of the seventies That it met John Lennon was as much a plan as it was chance. According to his notes and interviews, Chapman had a hit list, followed by Elizabeth Taylor, Paul McCartney, David Bowie and Johnny Carson. After the fatal shots at Lennon, Chapman read «The Catcher in the Rye» on the sidewalk and was arrested without resistance. He is in prison for life. John had only stepped back into the limelight in the fall of 1980, and after a long period of absence from the studio, his and Yoko’s album «Double Fantasy» was released at the end of November, accompanied by long interviews in «Playboy», «Rolling Stone», various radio stations and a photo session with Annie Leibovitz. Everything seemed to be on the right track. John was filmed taking a leisurely stroll with Yoko in Central Park or in a suit and tie at his favorite café, La Fortuna on Columbus Avenue. Well haired, but emaciated. Behind him lay a chaotic, bad, ambivalent decade: bed-ins and pacifism fuss, primal screaming therapies, in between ingenious songs, erratic experimental films and TV interviews, embarrassing porn selfies, other brilliant songs, unnerving appearances by his Plastic Ono Band with gruesome feedback and one Yoko crouching in white sacks, knitting silently or screeching for minutes. But, hey, it was the early seventies — the audience accepted everything that did away with the old without complaint. For John Lennon, the seventies only continued his journey of self-discovery, while the admired Beatle fled a broken childhood throughout his life. «Klaus, I’m so unhappy,» he confessed in 1967 — the Beatles were with «Sgt. Pepper «on their musical Olympus — the tears near his friend Klaus Voormann.

Lennon was always unhappy. Father Alfred, a ship steward and Hallodri, had left his wife and baby, mother Julia was overwhelmed with the boy and pushed him off to her older sister Mary (Mimi). She raised her bully nephew with discipline and severity. In fact, that gave him stability, Mimi at least was the only person who faithfully called John week after week, even in his deepest whiskey and cocaine crashes. When he was 17, his mother was run over by a car and died. The traumatized youngster became a cynic with a mother and father complex who gave himself up to an Indian guru and a dominant woman who was seven years older than him. Lennon sublimated his traumas with great songs, he played the clown at press conferences, bribed with quick-wittedness and sarcasm and fooled music critics with meaningless lyrics («I Am the Walrus», «Glass Onion»). But at some point this construct had to collapse. In the mid-seventies, Lennon had become the «Nowhere Man» he sang about in 1965. To this day, it is controversial whether Yoko just threw him out or whether she even recommended the affair to him — at least John Lennon hung out with his assistant May Pang in Los Angeles from the summer of 1973 to the end of 1974. In between he had sessions with producer Phil Spector, with whom he got drunk and pissed off until he ended the binge drinking with a pistol shot into the studio ceiling. A life in a fishbowl The infamous «Lost Weekend», which lasted one and a half years, was preserved for posterity insofar as May Pang played in the refrain of «No. 9 Dream «Was allowed to breath John’s name. Actually it wasn’t all that «lost»: some successful songs were written under the direction of the half-mad Spector. It also led to a reconciliation with Yoko: on October 9, 1975, John’s 35th birthday, son Sean was born. Lennon was now the superfather and househusband, who asked photographers to change diapers and bake bread in her apartment.

Shots crash through the night. They almost drown in the noise of New York, near the intersection of 72nd Street and Central Park West. Mark David Chapman pulls the trigger on the revolver five times. John Lennon collapses in the entrance of the apartment building «The Dakota». Chapman hit the former Beatles musician four times in the back. The hollow point bullets penetrate the shoulder and back, shredding the lungs and subclavian artery. A few moments earlier, on December 8th, 1980, Lennon and his wife Yoko Ono got out of the car to go to their apartment. «Imagine all the people living life in peace» — his message was charity, world peace. Now John Lennon is bleeding to death in the entrance of the «Dakota». And while the sirens wail, Mark David Chapman sits down on the sidewalk and calmly reads the book he is carrying in his coat pocket: Markus volunteered to test returnees on vacation When the police reached the scene, he signed the worn novel: «This is my testimony. Holden Caulfield» — the protagonist in the book. The officers handcuff Chapman to the patrol car. Then Yoko Ono comes to look at the plump man with the plump glasses who has just shot her great love. She doesn’t say a word. Mark David Chapman had adored the Beatles since childhood in Texas in the 1960s. Even when he slipped into drug addiction in his teens, the Liverpool musicians were a lifeline, especially frontman John Lennon and his life-affirming messages. At the age of 16, Chapman joined evangelical Christians — and the first cracks appeared in musical love.

Chapman got lost in the world of the «catcher in the rye». In this world-famous novel, J.D. In 1951 Salinger tells the story of the teenager Holden Caulfield, who wanders through New York and struggles with social norms and the behavior of his environment. Chapman read the socially critical book until he believed he and Caulfield were one; like his hero in a novel, he must resist the lies of the «Phonies», the swindlers and dazzlers. He attempted suicide and became delusional. He toyed with the idea of renaming himself Holden Caulfield and later signed documents with the name of his hated idol Lennon — a person with no identity of his own, an empty vessel in search of content. A brief stop gave him another parallel with Lennon: his relationship with an American woman of Japanese origin who Chapman married in the late 1970s. But even his wife Gloria could not free him from his gloomy head prison. Autograph for a murderer While Mark David Chapman was on the ground, John Lennon was enthroned above the New York skyline — in 1977 the photos were taken showing the pop star on the roof of the Dakota building in Manhattan. Chapman later said that these photos in particular confirmed his decision: John Lennon had to die. «I remember staring at the pictures and saying, ‘What if I kill him?'» He recalled. In Chapman’s bizarre world, the ex-Beatle was a traitor: in the song «Imagine» he had renounced his possessions. Now Chapman saw nothing but a multimillionaire, someone who marketed hope — and made fun of religion. One of those liars, as they were pilloried in his favorite novel «The Catcher in the Rye». In October 1980, Chapman quit his job as a security guard, bought a revolver and flew to New York. After going to the cinema to see the film «Ordinary People» and talking to his wife on the phone, he initially gave up on his plans. «My anger was defeated, the volcano sealed.» But on December 6th, Chapman traveled to the east coast again, rented a YMCA, bought the new Lennon album «Double Fantasy» and began to watch the star’s apartment house. When Lennon’s nanny returned from walking five-year-old Sean on the morning of December 8th, she found Chapman at the door. «Beautiful boy,» Chapman quoted a lyrics from Lennon and shook hands with the child. A few hours later he met his former idol. But Lennon greeted the supposed fan cheerfully, signed the album he had brought with him and asked if there was anything else he could do for him. The photographer Paul Goresh captured the scene (see photo gallery). «Lennon was just a picture on a cover» Mark David Chapman remained completely perplexed in front of the «Dakota» until the couple returned from the recording studio shortly before 11 p.m. What happened next, he told journalist Barbara Walters in 1992: «John got out of the car and I heard this voice that said, ‘Do it, do it, do it.’ It was probably my own voice. » Later, the murderer, sentenced to life imprisonment, repeatedly sought the public. «I was a nobody,» said Chapman. «Until I killed the greatest person on earth.» A murder as a free ride to sad glory. Chapman gave showmaster Larry King an interview, tried to get the signed album back, appealed to Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono. «I didn’t kill a real person. Lennon was just a picture on an album cover. He wasn’t real.»

From the author of the instant New York Times bestseller The Wives comes another twisted psychological thriller guaranteed to turn your world upside down.

Have you ever been wrong about someone?

Juno was wrong about Winnie Crouch.

Before moving in with the Crouch family, Juno thought Winnie and her husband, Nigel, had the perfect marriage, the perfect son—the perfect life. Only now that she’s living in their beautiful house, she sees the cracks in the crumbling facade are too deep to ignore.

Still, she isn’t one to judge. After her grim diagnosis, the retired therapist simply wants a place to live out the rest of her days in peace. But that peace is shattered the day Juno overhears a chilling conversation between Winnie and Nigel…

She shouldn’t get involved.

She really shouldn’t.

But this could be her chance to make a few things right.

Because if you thought Juno didn’t have a secret of her own, then you were wrong about her, too.

From the wickedly dark mind of bestselling author Tarryn Fisher, The Wrong Family is a taut new thriller that’s riddled with twists in all the right places.

I would like to write a novel that every, single person loves, but not even J.K. Rowling could do that. Instead, I try to write stories that pull on people’s emotions. I believe that sadness is the most powerful emotion, and swirled with regret the two become a dominating force. I love villains. Three of my favorites are Mother Gothel, Gaston and the Evil Queen who all suffered from a pretty wicked case of vanity (like me). I like to make these personality types the center of my stories.
I love rain, Coke, Starbucks and sarcasm. I hate bad adjectives and the word «smolder». If you read my book-I love you. If you hate my book-I still love you, but please don’t be mean to me; I’m half badass, half cry baby.

I close my eyes as I hear him speak. I take one very long and deep breath hoping to calm the immediate butterflies that take flight in my stomach and hope to slow down the racing of my heart. The voice was slightly deeper but the timbre was one that was achingly familiar.

My actions did little to help, but then who was I kidding? A deep breath wasn’t going to fix the effect he had on me and my body’s inevitable reaction. Even the memories that would forever haunt me couldn’t keep my emotions from triggering at the nearness of him once again.

I used to pray that I’d find the strength to move on from him, from the pain that the end carried, from the emptiness in my chest, but ultimately move on from—the loss of Creed Sullivan and the death of his sister, Cora.

The Sullivans had been the best part of my summers in New England.

Deep down, I knew my ache for all that I had lost was the reason I returned…

But I hadn’t expected to see him again—especially not like this.

Abbi Glines is a #1 New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal bestselling author of the Rosemary Beach, Sea Breeze, Vincent Boys, Field Party and Existence series. She never cooks unless baking during the Christmas holiday counts. She believes in ghosts and has a habit of asking people if their house is haunted before she goes in it. She drinks afternoon tea because she wants to be British but alas she was born in Alabama. When asked how many books she has written she has to stop and count on her fingers. When she’s not locked away writing, she is reading, shopping (major shoe and purse addiction), sneaking off to the movies alone, and listening to the drama in her teenagers lives while making mental notes on the good stuff to use later. Don’t judge.
